Day 4 - A Day in Perth

What an eventful day Saturday turned out to be! So much so we could not blog last night! So here we go - a recap of yesterday!

Started with breakie at B & M's (sorry we missed you M - we just can't seem to get up at work time anymore!) then it was off to the shops for some new thongs and a browse through Anaconda - where, when at the check out we heard over the loud speaker "could the owner of the white Nissan Navara licence plate BF21DZ, please return to your vehicle". We glanced at each other but didn't start really moving until we heard the announcer then say to his co-worker "I think the other car's much worse off than the Navara!" - that made us move a little quicker!! Outside we found a little car had tried to take on our trusty old Nav and met the harden steel of our ARB bumper bar! No damage to the Nav - can't really say the same for the other car though!

Then it was on to our next stop to meet up with our K'Town buddies Daffid & Knickers. We were taking the next step of our relationship and meeting both sets of parents! Big thanks to the Pozzari's for having their son's ring in friends for the night! Knickers was looking a little worse for wear - so we left her to sleep off her hangover and were taken on a tour of Fremantle by Daffid. While Daffid did his best to "sell" Perth to us (with the city fighting back), Ferro was great - an awesome little hippy town with lots of quirky characters and quaint little places with lots of flair. We ended up at Little Creatures where it was beer and pizza's by the water.

A quick stop into Cottesloe for a swim and another drink with the semi-revived Knickers, then off to get ready for our next "meet the parents" date and the big event - the Dockers vs. the Cats. With the Pozzari's and the Butler's AFL teams one of the biggest rivalry's, us little Union folk were in for a big night!

As always the AFL put on an awesome night of entertainment - I decided to take the side of the under dog's and unfortunately they did not get up this time! But it was a great game - very close! My final verdict on the AFL is that it is one of the most frustrating games to watch! Entertaining, and amazing atmosphere...but seriously...it's just a bunch of men running round chasing a ball on the ground - JUST PICK IT UP AND KICK IT STRAIGHT!!!

After the game we said our good-bye's to Knickers family and were then introduced to Perth's amazing Saturday nightlife and their fantastic public transport! Whilst on the train we kept seeing Force supporters walking around - to which Knickers confessed that there was actually a rugby game on in the city too!!!! We attempt to go out - but ended up back at Daffid's place with some dinner and a catch up before we snuggled into a very, very comfy bed!!

Up relatively early this morning to pack up the car and a teary good-bye - we are now on our way to Kalgoorlie. Then it will be on to the Nulabour and into the unknown.

Perth was an interesting city! Different but we were definitely introduced to the good parts. Today was a littler sadder than any of our others so far - finally having to say good-bye to Daffid and Knickers. Thanks for an awesome tour of Perth and for all our other amazing little adventures guys - we can't WAIT for NZ with you two.

Well that was Saturday - stayed tuned for tonight's instalment.

Much love from the Nav...
