Day 9 - Ceduna to Streaky bay

Hello people!!!!

Today was an easy day, we only drove 114kms down the road...

I have to say it - South Australia - you really have impressed us! Every bend and new out-look we see is followed by an intake of breath and a loud ooohhhh ahhhhh!! We both have decided that aside from hearing that Rad-alaide is far behind everyone else in Australia...we haven't actually heard much else about S.A - and we can not figure out why! We are not city folk - but out here on the coast - it is just what we love.

After hearing a few bad things from people about Ceduna we decided to pack up and move down the road to a quaint little fishing town called Streaky Bay and my God is it awesome! This little bay is on the Eyre Peninsular, situated 114kms down the road from Ceduna. It has all these little dirt roads that lead to some beautiful rock shelves, beaches and dunes. This was my first opportunity to take out the spear and go hunt some fish, while Heba sunbaked on the rocks! We found a great little spot which I thought might have something but to be honest it wasn't good for fish, but it looked amazing... PS- it is really cold in the water down here, I couldn't really breath through my snorkel it was that cold...haha but it was fun...

We then went to check out some other little spots on the coastline and some of these photos can explian why everyone who reads this should get to the Eyre Peninsular....

After we went to check out a mini museum at the local servo which had a replica great white shark which weighed 1.5t and it was caught on a 24lb line on a rod and reel... It took old mate 5hrs to get it in...WOW!!! This guy would of been sick of flake after eating it for 2 years!!!!

We set up camp at this amazing spot right on the Peninsular and its teeming with wildlife, we spent the afternoon looking out at the road on which we came thinking about all those little stops we have had over the past 9 days and we think we have found one of the best...

As we sit here drinking West End Draught and Heba drinking her Schmoon, the sun going down looking out to the ocean trying to decide where to go next, a single thought come to my mind...wherever it is - we really are living the dream at the moment.

From the Peninsula.....

Ps - we brought 1 doz of oysters for $9.50... good Aye!!!!
